Brazil - Culture and Carnival capital
There is no doubt that Brazil is famous around the world for the once a year extravaganza each February known as "Carnaval". But, there is more, much, much more to match the size of this country. The food varies from region to region, depending on what is readily available with influences from many foreign lands, introduced by the new arrivals to the country. The native inhabitants, Portuguese, African, German, Italian, Japanese and immigrants from many other countries have influenced the country 's culture, customs and cuisine. Things particularly special or unique to Brazil include, Carnaval, the Samba, an array of tropical fruits and food like feijoada and the churrascaria (all you can eat BBQ restaurant mmmmmm...).
The mixture of dance and martial arts resulted in capoeira. And of course Brazilian soccer, why are brazil and football synonymous? Another very special thing you will encounter from the Brazilian people everywhere you go is a friendly smile, a positive attitude and willingness to help - a refreshing and welcome experience for many foreigners not accustomed to such a level of affinity coming from strangers. A trip to a popular Brazilian destination like Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Bahia, Manaus and the Amazon, Fortaleza or Minas Gerais allows one to see a different bit of Brazilian culture in each city or region. As in almost everything associated with Brazil, diversity is also to be found in the spectrum of Brazilian music that includes genres such as bossa nova, samba, brazilian pop music known as MPB (musica popular brasileira), pagode, chorinho, forró and funk. Calabash Music sells a wide range of music from around the world, with plenty of Brazilian artists to be found.
